Boston Area Custom Cabinetry Manufacturers

Special Announcement!

We have "Green" cabinets now available to our environmentally friendly customers. We are one of the first manufacturing companies in Massachusetts to offer renewable products finished with top quality water based finish that contains no hazardous air pollutants or added chemicals. We build all of our green cabinets with certified formaldehyde free plywood’s and composite materials.

Scandia Kitchens, Inc was founded in 1962 and incorporated in 1978 by its present owner, David Dorrer, Sr.

The factory and showroom were completed in 1980. It was designed specifically to meet the needs of the builders, architects, designers and homeowners that purchase our products. The showroom houses three complete kitchens, several vignettes and samples of all of the woods, colors, door/drawer styles, countertop options, marble, granite, a number of quartz materials, Corian, Formica, etc., as well as many unique design ideas.

At SCANDIA KITCHENS, we feel that a kitchen is personal and should reflect the taste and style of the purchaser. Our experienced kitchen designers start with the needs and ideas of the customer and concentrate their efforts on careful planning and design in order to give the client an efficient, functional work area. Because all work is manufactured on site in our factory, SCANDIA KITCHENS has a distinct advantage over the competition. We can offer cabinetry in any size, width or depth. This ability to customize our product allows us to become creative and innovative in the design process. The superior craftsmanship of SCANDIA KITCHENS personalized custom cabinetry equals that found in fine furniture. Our exclusive finish and doing a lot of the work by hand are two things that we feel are necessary in order to achieve the results that we demand.
Our product is manufactured using only "select" grades of wood. We refuse to compromise on quality.

When builders, architects and designers send their clients to us, they can be confident that they are in the hands of experts. A SCANDIA KITCHENS designer will sit down with a client to provide an exact drawing for the builders to work with on site.

Our reputation has been built on a vast network of satisfied customers, and SCANDIA KITCHENS prides itself on standing behind the products that we manufacture. The fact that we are a local manufacturer is also appealing because it allows us to deal with any type of situation within 24 hours by factory experts trained to handle anything that may arise.

Manufacturers of high quality custom kitchen cabinetsDavid Dorrer Sr. began is woodworking career in high school in a custom cabinet factory. He quickly worked his way up from cabinetmaker to foreman to designer/salesman. His lifelong experience has made him a one of a kind expert in cabinet design. He has an innate ability to walk into an empty room and immediately visualize the fullest potential of the space.

Since 1978 Scandia Kitchens has evolved into a true family business. Linda, David’s wife handled the decorating and advertising for the company for many years. In 1996 she joined the company on a full-time basis and is now responsible for the daily operations in the office and showroom.

David's son, David Dorrer Jr. began working at Scandia part time during his high school years in the factory and continued during college in the factory and as an installer. He, then, co-coordinated the deliveries and installations for Scandia for 14 years while developing his design/sales career. This 20+ years of experience, combined with his degree from Stonehill College in 1989, provided him with the knowledge to begin his career as an extremely detailed custom cabinet designer who has learned the business from the ground up.

David’s youngest daughter, Colleen Lord began her designer career at a young age by working at the home shows that Scandia exhibited in for many years. After graduating from college, she spent the next 5 years as an apprentice to her father. She also attended various NKBA design courses. As a designer and a cook, the most valuable elements to her are the importance of combining functionality with the exquisite overall appearance.

Other family members that you may see during your visit to Scandia Kitchens are daughter Kristen Gallagher and son in law John Caccavo.

Kristen, who graduated from Stonehill college, has an active role in the finance department of the company.

Son in law John Caccavo has many years of experience as a manager in the construction industry.
He is the shop foreman at Scandia Kitchens and is responsible for the day to day operations in our factory and the ever so important role of quality control.

“A family business dedicates itself to long lasting relationships which is shown throughout the entire design process.”

“Family is the root of all that is good in our lives, and we are so grateful that we are able to share that throughout our business and with our clients.”

“From the first time you meet one of our designers to the day that your cabinetry is 100% complete, we build a unique relationship with our clients that often lasts for many years to come. We very often find ourselves manufacturing cabinetry for second and third generations of a previous customer’s family.”
